VPI Turntables - Back in the UK !
Founded by Sheila and Harry Weisfeld in1978, VPI first started with record cleaning machines (the HW 16, first introduced in 1981, is still in production albeit in an improved form!). Since then, they have firmly established themselves as leaders for manufacturing a wide range of turntables, from the new entry level Traveler Series via the Classic Series to the high end HRX products. Not forgetting the Scout range which has become the world's best-reviewed turntable as well as being the lowest priced turntable in Stereophile's Class B.
Nomad - £795
The VPI Nomad is the first all in one high-end entry level turntable. Complete with a headphone amplifier, phonostage, and pre-mounted Ortofon 2M Red cartridge on a 10 inch Gimballed / Yoke bearing tonearm, it is the perfect solution to enjoying your records!
It also has standard RCA connections providing the ability to connect to a standard amplifier and desktop/floor standing speakers. The Nomad turntable is a precision instrument that has been thoroughly tested to create the musical experience you’re looking for.

Scout 1.1 - £1975
The Scout turntable has become the worlds best-reviewed turntable! The Scout is the lowest priced turntable in STEREOPHILE’S Class “B” and has attained high performance records worldwide. The deck is now available with the new platter and bearing and is called Scout 1.1
For improved stability and damping, the Scout’s chassis is made from 1 1/8″ thick MDF bonded to a 12 gauge steel plate.
The massive platter is composed of 1 3/8″ aluminium and is mounted to an inverted bearing of Teflon and brass on a 60 Rockwell case hardened shaft. The 500 RPM AC synchronous motor chosen for the EU market is contained in a separate steel housing and drives the platter with smooth, quiet operation.
Scout 2 - £2350
Every Scout II comes standard with the JMW 9T. This incredible tonearm features a redesigned armtube that is tapered and filled with a proprietary damping material. This revolutionary design greatly reduces internal resonance, yielding a full and rich sound, with a vast soundstage and increased resolution and detail. The added mass also produces deeper bass response and fantastic compatibility with moving coil cartridges.
For maximum stability and damping, which always yield the truest possible analogue sound, the platter is made from 1 7/8″ thick machined 6061 aluminum and is attached to a nonmagnetic 303 stainless steel damping plate. The entire piece weighs in at an impressive 20 pounds! Because the aluminum is grounded to the steel, there is virtually no static buildup or sonic degradation. What’s in the grooves is what comes out of your speakers.
Classic 3 - £5350
The Classic line pays homage to the great turntables of the past that have been synonymous with state of the art turntable design. The Classic has been the best selling turntable VPI has ever made and is still outselling production.
The sales and rave reviews from around the world are based on the glorious sound and the incredible speed stability. The Classic 3 represents a significant step forward in both performance and aesthetics, delivering the best sounding turntable VPI has ever made.
For the Classic 3, VPI updated the arm with a new stainless steel arm-tube, bearing assembly, base mounting, and Nordost Valhalla wiring from cartridge to RCA (or XLR) output jacks.
To maintain the amazing speed stability of the Classic design VPI include the extremely popular Periphery Ring Clamp and HR-X weight. New feet were designed for greater stability, better isolation, and a matching look to the larger chassis.
To complete the visual aesthetic of this state of the art design, VPI chose a deep Piano Black finish to perfectly counterpoint the silvery sheen of the top section. Gorgeous and glorious, the Classic 3 is an absolute triumph!
